The fight isn’t official yet, but you better believe Tyron Woodley is ready for Demian Maia.
Woodley’s third defense of the UFC welterweight championship is expected to be against Maia, who is No. 3 in the promotion’s official rankings. The 39-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu wizard has used his grappling to dominate his last seven opponents and he’s become notorious for clinging onto them from behind like a backpack to completely neutralize their attacks.
On Tuesday, Woodley posted a video on Instagram showing that he plans to wear a backpack throughout his training to simulate how it might be to go five rounds with Maia.
These are the lengths one must go to remain the champ.
