Baltic Football News Article - Digital Innovation in Dobrecova Cup
Now in its 16th edition, the international youth tournament has grown into one of Latvia’s leading grassroots football events. While the competition provides valuable development opportunities for young players, it has also become an increasingly important contributor to sports tourism, attracting visitors from across the Baltics and beyond.
Alongside the on-field action, the tournament continued to expand its digital offering.
Supporters who were unable to travel to Liepāja were able to watch matches through a paid streaming service, allowing families to follow games remotely while creating an additional commercial revenue stream for the organisers.
Pricing was straightforward. Individual matches were available for €2.99, while supporters could purchase a full age-group pass for €7.99, providing access to every match within that category on the streaming platform.
The initiative demonstrated how youth tournaments can diversify their income while giving young players the experience of competing in professionally produced broadcasts.
