Liepaja Challenge Cup 2019

Tournament Information

LIEPAJA CHALLENGE CUP is an elite level international youth football tournament organised by Baltic Football School. Tournament roots originate from 2007 when it started out as a 6-team tournament with teams from Latvia and Lithuania.

2019 will mark the 12th straight year the tournament has taken place and for the first time in our history, we will have 24 teams participating.

Current Champions: 1. FC Koln (2017 and 2018)

 

2019 Tournament Details

Date: Friday and Saturday 7th - 8th June

Venue: Daugavas Stadium, Jurmalas Parks, Liepaja, Latvia, LV-3401

Age group: U11s, players born in 2008 or younger

 

2019 Tournament System

24 teams will be divided into 4 groups of six teams.

Each team will play against each other in their group.

After group games, the top 3 teams from each group will qualify for Golden Tournament (1st-12th place), whilst the bottom 3 teams from each group will qualify for Amber Tournament (13th-24th place).

The second round will see the top 12 teams divided into two groups of six and the bottom 12 teams divided into two groups of six.

Each team will play against each other in the second round group.

After second round games, top 2 teams from each of Golden Tournament groups will qualify for 1st-4th place semi-final, 3rd and 4th place teams from each of Golden Tournament groups will qualify for 5th-8th place semi-final and 5th and 6th place teams from Golden Tournament will qualify for 9th-12th place semi-final.

In the same way, top 2 teams from each of Amber Tournament groups will qualify for 13th-16th place semi-final, 3rd and 4th place teams from each of Amber Tournament groups will qualify for 17th-20th place semi-final and 5th and 6th place teams from Amber Tournament will qualify for 21st-24th place semi-final.

After the semi-finals teams will have their last game of the tournament for a specific position in the final standings.
