Nordic Stars Guidelines:

  1. International FIFA game rules apply at the Nordic Stars tournament.

  2. Tournament Format:

Nordic Stars tournaments (stages) are divided into group stage and play-offs.

In the group stage, teams are divided into four-member groups, with each team playing the others once. Group stage matches award three points for a win, one point for a draw, and zero points for a loss. The play-off system determines the distribution of all positions. In the event of a tie in the placement matches, penalties follow immediately, without extra time, with both teams taking 5 penalties.

In case of equal points in the group stage, the final ranking is determined by:

1 – points in matches between the tied teams
2 – goal difference in matches between the tied teams
3 – goals scored in matches between the tied teams
4 – overall goal difference
5 – goals scored
6 – draw

  1. Use of Older Players in Tournaments: A maximum of up to 2 older players born after August 1 of the previous year may participate in one team.

  2. Warnings and Dismissals:

If the referee gives the same player, coach, or team representative a second caution (yellow card) in one game, it is followed by a dismissal (red card). The dismissed person must leave the team's technical area and go to the location or area designated by the referee, usually the stands, and stay there until the end of the game.

A player who has been dismissed from the field of play is suspended for the next tournament game if the reason for the dismissal was unsportsmanlike conduct, such as spitting, swearing, arrogance, or intentional roughness, such as hitting or other aggressive behavior. This applies if the representatives of the dismissed person's team, the opposing team in the next game, and the tournament organizer or their representative do not decide otherwise. Dismissal for other violations does not automatically result in a suspension for the next game. A suspension received in the last game of the tournament does not automatically extend to the following tournaments.

The referee may request a harsher punishment for the dismissed person, such as a suspension for the remainder of the tournament or even for the next Nordic Stars tournament. The referee must submit the relevant request to the tournament organizer or their representative, who makes the final decision, which cannot be appealed. The representative of the team and/or coach of the suspended person are informed of the decision.

  1. Field dimensions:

Games are played on smaller fields, which measure 60-70 x 40-50 meters. The goal sizes are 2 x 5 meters.

  1. Tournaments have several important protocol rules that teams should follow. Here are some key points:

Protocol completion: Before the tournament, teams fill out a protocol with players' names, shirt numbers, and birthdates. Electronic registration is possible on the turniir.ee website.

Team jerseys:

Each team has two jerseys of different colors. A bib can also be used as the second jersey. The jerseys must have the same number as indicated in the protocol. The home team always plays in their first jersey. The visiting team can choose their jersey, but if both teams' primary jerseys are the same color, the visiting team must use their second color. The goalkeeper must wear a shirt (or bib) that is a different color from both their team and the opposing outfield players.

  1. Responsibility: The organizer of the football tournament does not take responsibility for injuries, health problems, illnesses, thefts, or other material losses that occur during the tournament.

Organizers are not responsible for the presence of medical personnel/services at the tournament. It is the responsibility of each team to have medical equipment during the tournament.
