OFFICIAL RULES

MATCH RULES

The game duration is 4 × 8 minutes. The clock stops during free throws and time-outs.

The break between each quarter is 1 minute.

Each team is allowed one timeout per half.

Team fouls: a team reaches the foul limit after 4 fouls in a quarter; from the 5th foul onwards, free throws are awarded.

If the score is tied at the end of regular time, overtime will be played under a “sudden death” format.

Overtime begins with a jump ball.


COMPETITION SYSTEM

In the group stage, teams are divided into groups to provide the best tournament format for each age category. Each team is guaranteed 5 games.

In the group stage:

  • A win awards 2 points
  • A loss awards 1 point
  • A forfeit awards 0 points

In case of equal points, the final ranking is determined by:

  1. The winner of the head-to-head match between the tied teams
  2. For three or more tied teams: point difference (+/–) in games between those teams
  3. Most points scored in games between the tied teams
  4. Most total points scored across all games in the tournament
  5. Drawing of lots

REFEREES

Group stage and playoff games are officiated by one referee and one table official. Finals will be played with 2 referees and one table official. All the referees are accepted by the Estonian Basketball Association or the head referee of the tournament.

AWARDS

The top three teams in each age group will be awarded trophies and medals.

In addition, an MVP will be awarded in each age group.


MEDICINE / MEDICAL AID

The organizers of Kääriku Basket Cup 2026 basketball tournament will not take any responsibility for injuries, which happen during the tournament. Teams have an obligation to ensure that all trauma situations will be resolved.
If possible, the tournament organizers will assist with medical aid.


RECOGNITION OF FAIR PLAY

For the recognition of fair play it is recommended that players shake hands with the opposing players and referee right after the line-up (before the match starts) and after the final whistle.


WARRANTY

By participation in Kääriku Basket cup 2026 basketball tournament, the team confirms being aware of all the rules of the tournament.


BALLS USED IN MATCHES

All the balls used during the Kääriku Basket Cup 2026 have a marking “FIBA  APPROVED” or “FIBA INSPECTED”.


STATE OF EMERGENCY, TOURNAMENT MANAGMENT

The jury of the tournament has right to make changes in match times and locations, if it is necessary and an inevitable event requires it!
NB! Tournament organizers are not responsible for the event of theft during the tournament!
